Journal prompts September – 30 free journal prompts to challenge and inspire you

Journal Prompts September

Each month I publish 30 journal prompts. I generally have a theme for the month. All you need to do is sign up to the newsletter and then, at the beginning of each month you’ll receive your 30 free journal prompts.

They are designed to help you engage with your journaling practice regularly as well as fire up your brain cells and encourage that brain/hand connection.

For this month, September 2024, the theme is Ahead!

The theme idea arose because I realised that the summer was coming to an end. And it felt like it was coming to an end rather abruptly. I didn’t feel ready for September, I mean, who does feel ready for September?

Don’t get me wrong, I love September in general. The weather is often beautiful. There is an excitement and a feeling of newness, partly because the schools and higher education colleges start the new year at this time.

But I didn’t feel ready.

I felt the passing of time so acutely, it just seemed to be slipping through my fingers without me even acknowledging the time or feeling that I had used it well.

But what can we do? Time is just time.

And I know that journaling is a great activity. It’s calming and grounding. It stops the anxiety of looking at the past regretfully and prevents the worry of what is to come in the future.

This is how the theme of Ahead! came about. I thought that if I could use my daily journaling practice to change my brain and my heart on a regular, daily basis then I could really grab all the opportunities that are coming this month wholeheartedly.

You may feel the same. You may feel like time is just passing you by and it all feels out of control. Or you may feel chucked out of summer, as I did, unprepared for autumn/fall. Or you may be glad that it’s September. You’re looking forward to it, and are ready to embrace it with all your might.

Wherever you are in those categories, September’s journal prompts are going to be really valuable for you. See below for a few examples of the varied nature of the prompts.

A couple of journal prompts September examples

The prompts for September are quite broad in nature. For example some of them address your mind:

Where are you now? Were is your mind? How are you feeling?

Some of them are practical and address goals, plans or projects:

Imagine it is the end of September. What accomplishments or progress are you most proud of? How did you stay motivated an on track to achieve them?

And some are about progression, self improvement and growing into the future version of you:

What is one thing – an idea, belief, habit or relationship – that you need to let go of to grow or move forward?

Whichever bucket you fall into, this month’s prompts are a great journaling practice that you can use and benefit from.

So come and join us in the Journal Library and start to incorporate these prompts into your regular practice.

I have just started creating the prompts in a downloadable monthly calendar style. So you can print it out and keep it in your journal, or download it and keep it in an online organiser like Asana, or Trello. or you could just pin it to your laptop home screen for ease or reference.

I also have a really exciting announcement coming soon, so be sure to sign up to the list so that you will be the first to hear. It’s a great idea for journaling and I am really ready to share it and hope that you will love it.

Have a great day and see you on the inside for Ahead!
