Journaling prompts, April’s theme: SELF-CONFIDENCE – 10th April 2026

Ready today’s prompt by clicking on ‘Read More’…

This month’s journaling prompts on the theme of SELF-CONFIDENCE are designed to help you build a steady, grounded belief in yourself. Not by forcing positivity, but by gently understanding how you think, feel, and show up in your everyday life.

Mini-theme: Taking Responsibility Through Small Wins

Today’s Prompt: Recall a past success: “I handled that by…” and how it built my belief in myself.

These are my personal responses to today’s prompt designed to encourage you to use the prompts to develop your journaling practice. If you are not already receiving the monthly themed prompt calendar there is a sign up box below and you are very welcome to come and join us.

In the very early stages of building my first business there was a stage when I was very overwhelmed with it all. I had a lot of requests for work and what I was doing was truly bespoke, so I worked very closely with my clients, creating something unique for each of them. I actually found this really stressful. I didn’t know how to cope with managing the stress within myself. So what I did was close the business down in the sense that I didn’t actually close it down, but I narrowed the field so much. I stopped saying yes to anything that stressed me too much. I didn’t actively seek more work. I wasn’t bold. I didn’t have a strategy.

Fast forward many years and I have recently been through a similar situation. A lot of work, many projects all needing an individual approach and a lot of work. This time I have dealt with it in a completely different way.

Firstly I am more able to cope with the stress within myself. That in itself is great. I am so proud of myself for that journey of learning to cope with my emotions. It has not been easy, as first I needed to learn and understand that my emotions were sky-high and could get triggered to by sky-high very easily. And then I needed to learn to deal with the stress of work.

So having come through the last 8 months of really intense, busy work with Asana projects, todo lists, lists to keep track of lists, delivering projects, meeting deadlines and coping with way more than I have every coped with work-wise I am so proud of myself. And until I wrote this down, I didn’t realise how proud I am of myself.

I just got through each day. I had breathing exercises and ways of staying calm throughout the day which I have never really had before for this intensity of work. And I just accepted it. Half of the exhaustion that I felt through my previous projects was, I think, simply triggered by the resistance to the difficulties. And this time I have learned to not resist. It didn’t work every time, but it worked the majority of the time.

I’m so proud of myself for learning to deal with it rather than just backing away, which was my previous coping mechanism.

I also gave myself a lot of grace in this most recent episode of extreme busyness. If I needed Saturday to recover from the week I took it. If I needed more time in bed I took it. If I was just too exhausted to exercise I didn’t. It has been really helpful. I’m so much more compassionate towards myself and I think that has been really great for actually pulling through a difficult time and getting work done.
