Today’s Prompt: Write about something that feels unfinished and how you’d finish it or bring it to completion.
These are my personal responses to today’s prompt designed to encourage you to use the prompts to develop your journaling practice. If you are not already receiving the monthly themed prompt calendar there is a sign up box below and you are very welcome to come and join us.
There is something that feels like unfinished business for me and it has been swirling round the back of my head for a while now.
It’s to do with my creativity and specifically in the area of making clothes. I’ve always been multi-passionate which I think is a great phrase and wish it had been around when I was first starting my business(es). But with making clothes and talking about style, I’ve felt very at odds with the prevailing wind. I didn’t fit the mould, or want to be, an influencer. I don’t have a model’s body and feel vulnerable being photographed. It has been a battle that I feel like I’ve lost and I think I also felt very confused about on the one hand feeling called to encourage and empower women, and on the other hand feeling thwarted in doing so and therefore doubting myself.
But I also am feeling things shift. I feel like a different person. I am a different person. I can see ways that I could promote my work in a way that would feel comfortable and authentic to me.
My plan to bring it to fulfilment and finish is not mapped out. But I know that I will do this work by concentrating on the work itself, on the detail, on the exclusivity and the creativity of the work. I also realise that to bring it to fulfilment, which will also be a starting point involves me being brave about an aspect of that work that I have put on the back burner for a while.
Now that I am journaling this and being very focussed on the subject matter, I probably do need to create a plan and some timelines.
But maybe there is another way to do this? Maybe it’s a way of creativity and purpose and love and joy and sharing and abundance?
Maybe the way to finish this project is in a different way?
Not in a spreadsheet-y, list-y kind of way.
But in a dance-y, abundance-y kind of way.
I’m open to exploring how to do this work in a different way. A way that celebrates how I want women to turn up for themselves and celebrate their life and do this in my work. That would be a great way of visibly showing my values. I’d love that.
What is unfinished and incomplete for you and how will you bring it to completion?
