Today’s Prompt: “Where am I choosing comfort over growth?”
These are my personal responses to today’s prompt designed to encourage you to use the prompts to develop your journaling practice. If you are not already receiving the monthly themed prompt calendar there is a sign up box below and you are very welcome to come and join us.
I think I sometimes choose comfort in the form of hesitation and overthinking. I stay in planning mode because it feels safer than fully committing and risking failure or disappointment. Comfort also looks like procrastination disguised as preparation. Growth, for me, may mean becoming more consistent, visible, and willing to continue before I feel fully confident.
I don’t think I choose comfort because I don’t care about growth. I think I sometimes choose comfort because I’m tired, afraid, overwhelmed, or uncertain about whether my efforts will truly pay off. Comfort can feel protective, a way of avoiding disappointment, failure, or the vulnerability of really trying. Part of growth, for me, may not be becoming fearless or endlessly productive, but learning to move forward gently anyway. To keep choosing small acts of courage, consistency, and honesty with myself, even when growth feels slow or uncomfortable. Perhaps real growth is not forcing myself harshly forward, but building enough trust in myself that I no longer need comfort to hide from change.
How about you?
