Today’s Prompt: “What distractions are slowing my growth?”
These are my personal responses to today’s prompt designed to encourage you to use the prompts to develop your journaling practice. If you are not already receiving the monthly themed prompt calendar there is a sign up box below and you are very welcome to come and join us.
Is overthinking a distraction? I suppose it is if it takes me away from where I want to grow. So overthinking is slowing my growth.
Lack of faith and confidence in myself is a distraction. Also I’m really good at wriggling out of things I don’t want to do.
I think these are just as much a distraction as, say, scrolling on Instagram. A distraction is anything that takes away from your focus.
Is inconsistency a distraction? I don’t think so. Inconsistency is the result. The result of lack of faith and confidence and of overthinking.
I didn’t realise they were slowing my growth. But now I look at things from this perspective I see that they are. And I was thinking that they were actually quite valid ways of looking at my work, but now I see that they are hindrances. I like to think through things from lots of different angles, but I don’t think this is hugely helpful, because I can see that they cause me to change course.
Development does come from thinking, but it also comes from action.
Quietening the noise in my brain = growth.
How about you?
