Mini-theme: General Growth
Today’s Prompt: “What have I outgrown recently?”
These are my personal responses to today’s prompt designed to encourage you to use the prompts to develop your journaling practice. If you are not already receiving the monthly themed prompt calendar there is a sign up box below and you are very welcome to come and join us.
This is an interesting question because what immediately came to mind is not what I have outgrown, but rather what I need to outgrow. Areas in which I might be stagnating because I didn’t realise that I need to outgrow, to let go of.
Relationships. I like to hold on to my relationships. I value longevity in a friendship for example. But there are some friendship and relationships that I’ve outgrown.
I’ve also outgrown the former version of myself. But I think I’ve been holding on to her. I don’t know why. Familiarity? Caution? That makes me wonder if I should say a formal goodbye to her?
I’ve outgrown accepting excuses from myself. I’ve outgrown accepting that I turn up half-heartedly and expect total heartedly results. I’ve outgrown my self-limiting beliefs. And this is the thing, I outgrew my self-limiting beliefs a while ago, in my head. Now with this prompt today, realising that I’ve outgrown my self-limiting beliefs and paying conscious attention to that thought, and journaling on it, I can pack it away and say goodbye to it. In fact not even pack away because that sort of implies that one day I’ll unpack it.
It’s gone. That time has gone. That me has gone. I am a new creation.
How about you?
